Hard-Won Holidays (A Poem by me)
Hard-Won Holidays - by Kay Lim
Wake and rest, On and off,
Start and stop, The ticking clock,
My mind is electric, Eyes filled with light,
The machine churns on, The patrons delight,
A fire set ablaze, Fuel for the hands,
Burning at thought, Till all is naught
But dust and sand,
How the soul yearns, A call unanswered,
Respite waits, Far on the horizon,
"Chase the dream", They ask for waking,
And so we rise, The machine restarts,
On and off, Start and stop,
Until we drop.
